Polaris Rare Earth Materials, LLC is a global provider of rare earth materials and permanent magnets, as well as a manufacturer of magnet assemblies, sub-assemblies and custom components. The company has developed excellent sources in China to supply these rare earth materials and to manufacture magnet assemblies and a variety of custom components.
Polaris is a small company with big needs. The owners liked that the logo had been hand-drawn by one of the founders and were reluctant to stray too far from their roots. However, with an international client base and competition from larger corporations, Polaris needed a brand image that portrayed professionalism.
We evolved the brand by using elements from the hand-drawn logo to build that image, creating a look of energy or “polarity” emitting from the earth. We chose earth tones and cave images to reflect the “rare-earth” aspect.
Polaris asked us to increase online traffic with search engine optimization. The first step was to examine industry terms, study which terms competitors were using, and use our SEO data mining techniques to find out which terms were being searched for in real-world searches.
The chosen website design was built with text rich pages. The design is applied by an external style sheet instead of being embedded on the page. When search engines read the page, they only encounter the text, not the design. This helps the search engines index and categorize the pages of the site more efficiently resulting in better ranking.
Custom text was written for the site, and the identified search terms were integrated into the site. Our monitoring techniques tell us how effective the initial optimization was, and how well each phrase ranks. Polaris currently enjoys the #2 result for the phrase “rare earth materials,” among others.
In addition, we designed and produced a pocket-fold brochure and a mailer, built a booth display for trade-shows, and implemented the new website.
